Wow, that's odd. I'm not sure that I agree with the premise, though. I know I'm a lot more expressive in writing on my blog than I would be in talking, say, to a coworker, or someone I didn't know well. So I could see why I might come across as ESFP in the limited framework of my blog, but that's not a good sample of me as a person. Interesting idea, though. :)

bjay - you're absolutely right about the marriages not being dissolved yet. I realized that about halfway through the posting. I wound up not correcting it, because: a) as you note, the fate of the marriages has not been determined one way or the other, although the marriages are in jeopardy; and b) the intent of Prop 8 and its supporters seems to be to unmarry people so the main point isn't really affected

thanks for the clarification

Nicely said. Perish the thought that we should have to live according to the bible's dictates.

One thing: those existing marriages aren't dissolved, at least not yet. The California Supreme Court has agreed to decide the fate of the Prop. 8 same-sex marriage ban. True, no new weddings for gay and lesbian couples until they do, probably in June. The Court is also expected to rule on the legal status of couples who wed before the vote.

Relevantly, as many influential experts and publications have repeatedly pointed out, Obama is part of Generation Jones, born 1954-1965, between the Boomers and Xers.

Here's a recent 5 minute GenJones video which features many top pundits specifically talking about Obama's membership in Generation Jones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ta_Du5K0jk

I have recently rescued a baby opossum myself after my dog had killed his mother. I was only able to find one of the babies but I am happy to report that he is now 6 inches long and doing great. I also learned so much I had not known about the species. I enjoyed the pictures and wanted to comment. Thanks,

We were talking about the neighbourhood at breakfast this morning - some houses on Centenary still don't have power, and plenty still have trees in them.
Someone I know from the Governor's Program works for a disaster recovery company and was talking about how it can take longer to finish working on the last 20% of power outages than it did to fix the first 80% of problems.

I'm sorry to hear about those trees, though. They were a significant feature of your folks' yard.

Wow, that sounds really awful. :( 6-8 weeks for power restoration is a lot worse than the outages we had here in Durham during the ice storm of 2002, and I remember how awful it was to deal without power for even 5 days. My thoughts are with your family.

I've come to the conclusion that modern media is making people stupid by assuming they don't think.

As an example, the other night I was watching a special on the History channel called 'Ancient Ink' where some guy went around the world visiting tattoo artists who use techniques that are more or less ancient. Some of the comments were real gems, such as (paraphrased):

"Everywhere I traveled people were practicing ancient tattooing techniques" (to which I responded 'Because those are the only places you went')

"He's using living flesh as a canvas" ("Yes, its a tattoo!")

If people are constantly given comments like that that assume they're stupid, they're going to be lazy and stop trying to think and become stupid.

Hi folks -

The link to this item from Google news is

-----Original Message-----

We need your help. Please contact Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, and
ask him to veto the Creationism Bill passed by the Legislature this
week, SB 733. Faxes may be best, but telephone calls, snail mail, and
e-mail can also be effective.

Folks who are out of state, we need your help too. Part of the message
the Governor should hear is what a bad image of Louisiana this
legislation will present to the rest of the country.

Contact information to send your message to the Governor, and more
information about SB 733 can be found here:
http://lasciencecoalition.org/ . To see what others are saying, go to
Google News and search --Louisiana evolution--.

Time is very short. The bill could literally be signed at any moment.
The Governor has until July 8, 2008 to sign or to veto. Unless he
affirmatively vetoes by July 8, the bill will become law, with or
without the Governor's signature.

Please forward this message to all recipients you think appropriate. As

a courtesy, please put all e-mail addresses in the "bcc" field, to
protect others from viruses and spam.

Thank you for your help.

I'm from Kansas! Really!! They're way more respectable in their evolutionary education curriculum.
Yeah.

I remember in my 9th grade Biology class we were told that we had to skip the chapter on Darwinian evolution, but we could be told by our teacher that there was some interesting stuff in that chapter. I'm pretty sure we talked about the Lamarkian evolutionary theory in class, though.

Yeah.

I remember in my 9th grade Biology class we were told that we had to skip the chapter on Darwinian evolution, but we could be told by our teacher that there was some interesting stuff in that chapter. I’m pretty sure we talked about the Lamarkian evolutionary theory in class, though.

"Don’t let your inbox set your priorities."

I've been guilty of violating this maxim on more than one occasion. Difficult not to, in our connected and deadline-driven world.

Excellent post. I'll be sure to mention it to our readership. Thanks.

"Good ideas are not adopted automatically. They must be driven into practice with courageous impatience."

Wow. That's a truism if ever I heard one. That's what my whole past month has been about.

i contemplated the sony reader for a lot of reasons, but mainly one, which is, it enlarges the font of any book/paper/media. there are lots of wonderful paper books that i would love to read but put me to sleep because the font is miniscule and too closely spaced together for me to enjoy it (i think everything should be in harry potter font. really.) but i'm not crazy about books not really being owned by me.

that and i'd love not to have to drag my laptop everywhere to read my nytimes. :) let me know if you still love it or find other great uses for it.

Oooh... do keep us up to date on how that works out. I'm very curious. (He says as he sits next to a cardboard box with 25-30 books in it to be shipped to California for summer reading.)
